Dear Michigan Athletes, Coaches, Referees, Instructors and Parents,

Welcome to the website of Michigan Sport Taekwondo, Inc. (MST)

Formed as a non-profit corporation in 2005, MST is Michigan’s sole local affiliated organization (LAO) recognized by the USA Taekwondo (USAT), the national governing body for the olympic taekwondo movement.  MST since its inception over 15 years ago has been providing training opportunities, warm-up jackets, competition uniforms, and stipends for michigan athletes, coaches, and referees.  As a non-profit, all board members are volunteers, all moneys received are used to benefit our members.

Even in the past few years in which all of our lives were impacted by covid, mst has reimbursed athletes and referees who have participated at international and national events.  Though we have not had a state qualifier since 2019, MST has still provided training opportunities for athletes, coaches, and referees.

In 2020, MST hosted a weekend-long referee workshop in which our referees kept their skills sharp and stayed up-to-date on the latest competition rules/interpretations.

In 2021, MST hosted international poomsae competitor and referee Master Ray Kyi who taught coaches and instructors on the finer points of sport poomsae so that they could take that information to their respective competitors.

MST sponsored a rumble for sparring competitors in 2022 on the west side of our State in which over 300 athletes and coaches got to spar up to 6 matches in a non-competitive setting while using daedo equipment.

MST is very excited to provide additional training, competition, and financial sponsorships to our members in 2022.

As the recently elected president of MST for 2021-22, I thank you for your interest in our organization and hope you become a member to support amateur taekwondo competition in Michigan.

Sincerely,
Peter Miles
President, Michigan Sport Taekwondo
